MADISON MIELITZ
Education
As I am wrapping up my Senior year at Central Washington University, I am starting to reflect back on the experiences and skills that I’ve had and gained throughout my educational journey. I started out my college career at Oregon State University in the Fall of 2014. I stayed there for two quarters after which I realized it was not the fit for me. I decided to transfer to Central Washington University the next Fall where I began my adventure in Apparel, Textiles and Merchandising. I knew I wanted to pursue a fashion related degree since I was young due to my intense passion for music, math and clothing. What drew me in was the collaboration between the three and how much of a social impact they both have. at CWU, I have learned the depth of the fashion industry. From classes focusing on Buying and Merchandising Math, textiles, trend analysis, history, and Digital Presentation Techniques, Ihave only grown more interest.
Personal Strengths
My personal strengths are extremely vast and include: innovation, customer service/ communication skills, work ethic, critical thinking, and ability to learn quickly. I am always thinking of and executing fresh ideas through my school work and my current position, which I assist in creating new ways to promote the company as well as suggest visual merchandising strategies. I also exercise customer service and communication skills every day at work. My favorite part of my job is getting the opportunity to engage with new and returning customers as well as developing that relationship with them and showing that the company and employees care about their needs as we do our best to keep them beyond satisfied with their product and experience. My quick learning ability comes from my deep interest in my field of study. The fashion industry is constantly going through changes which forces me to learn new things every single day. I am always so excited for these new learning experiences since I easily adapt to change and I thoroughly enjoy it.
Values
My core values have a big impact on my aspirations. I have strong beliefs in individualism and expressing yourself through adornment. Everyone has their own taste in fashion pieces whether they think so or not, we all pick out what we wear every day. Some are more moderate than others, but it applies to everyone. This is what shapes our personality and I love how different people are from one another even if we do share similarities. I also value work ethic, I think that with strong work ethic any goal is achievable. My work ethic is one of my biggest strengths and has opened up a lot of oportunities for me which is why I praise it.
Technical Knowledge
My technical knowledge pretty much revolves around Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and social media platforms. I actively use each of those applications on the day to day basis and I am extremely proficient in each of them. My biggest technical strengths are reflected in InDesign and social media since I use those
personally as well. My skills with Microsoft Office revolve around Excel. I have used Excel a lot within my educational journey and will continue to use it every day during my internship.
